The Riddler appeared in the Batman comics only a few times before being portrayed by Frank Gorshin in the 1960s television series. His portrayal created an interest in the character. Riddler?s popularity has not waned and he is consistently on the list of top villains. Like many Batman villains, he has become darker over the years.
